Meet the Owner

Hello! My name is Denise. I am the proud owner of A Stitch of Joy.

I come from a family of very talented women. My grandmother loved to sew and was "famous" for her stuffed clowns with the red pom pom noses. She also loved to crochet and macramé. My mother is a fabulous quilter and has made many beautiful quilts and table runners. Give my sister some wood, a saw, vinyl or paint and she can whip up the cutest signs ever.

My passion is and always has been sewing and machine embroidery/appliqué. I began sewing in high school. I remember fondly my Home EC teacher helping me cut and sew my very first quilt and dress. Over the years, I continued to sew here and there but life got busy and I had to put my passion on hold for a while.

After a death in the family and a move back home, I opened my small shop. I began selling on Etsy and then moved to FB and other social media outlets. I now work out of my home while raising my daughter. We are a pet friendly home and are owned by several cats and a dog. All of the items I create are either handmade or machine embroidered by me personally. I am a stickler for quality and detail. I also do my best to ship items as quickly as possible. I pride myself on great customer service and quality products.
